World Sambo Championships – Ashgabat 2020
The prudent domestic and foreign policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov enables Turkmenistan to take an active part in the international sports movement. Today, many sports are developing in our country in close cooperation with the International Olympic Committee and the sports federations. In September 2017, the Ashgabat Olympic Town brilliantly hosted the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games – the unique sports complex that has no analogues not only in the Central Asian region, but also beyond. The highest international tournaments, including the world championships in sambo, kickboxing, judo, boxing, taekwondo, karate, wrestling, etc., can be held there.
As is known, the capital of Turkmenistan will host the 2022 World Sambo Championships in accordance with the decision of the FIAS Executive Committee. The Turkmen athletes – members of the Turkmenistan national sambo team are intensely preparing for the sporting event. The athletes attend in training sessions and have sparring sessions under the guidance of experienced coaches, and each of the candidates for the national team has an individual training programme.
President of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) Vasily Shestakov said, “The professional approach to organising sporting events in Turkmenistan meets international standards, and the international sambo tournament in Ashgabat will be held at a high level and with great success.”
The 2022 World Sambo Championships will be a memorable event and raise the international prestige of our Motherland, and the athletes of Turkmenistan will do their best to win medals.
