President of Turkmenistan elected President of National Olympic Committee

On May 10, 2022, the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan held a regular meeting in Ashgabat. The participants reported on the work done by the National Olympic Committee in 2016-2021 and considered the issues related to the election of the President of the National Olympic Committee.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was unanimously elected President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan.

It was emphasised that Turkmen sport has received a powerful impetus to develop and reached a qualitatively new level in the modern epoch. The bright sporting achievements of the Motherland are the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which Ashgabat hosted with triumph in 2017, the Amul-Hazar International Rally Raid and the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships.

The tangible results of the progressive national sports policy include the performance of Turkmen athletes on a regular basis at prestigious international competitions, in which they achieve remarkable results. In accordance with the Resolution of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, issued on April 28, 2022, the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the Turkmenistan national teams for the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games and the XVII Summer Paralympic Games, which will be held in Paris, France in 2024, was set up and its composition was approved.

President of Turkmenistan, Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan for his significant contribution to the development of Turkmen sports and the international Olympic movement and the enhancement of the sporting prestige of the Motherland on the world arena.

The participants discussed other issues on the agenda of the NOC General Assembly.
